Description
Another view from Felletin, Creuse, France, where I live. Actually this roof is that of my neighbour's house. I don't really like the man and his family, because they are spying everyone around, but never mind. It's painted from a picture I shot the 13th of March, 2005. As you can see by comparing to the reference picture, I took some liberties with the colours : I wanted to go with a kind of gradient from icy cold colours (top) to warm red brick colours (bottom). Trying to do with colours too close to original would have flatten the image and made it too sad (it's my taste !).
This work took me about two weeks on and off, on a little corner of my bar.
As usual in my watercolours works, the material was :
Watercolours: Talens, Rowney-Manet
White gouache (for cement parts between bricks and little touches in ice cones): Talens
Brushes: Talens, Raphaël
Paper: Canson "Aquarelle Fontenay" (300g/m²)
