Description

I've had the idea of this watercolour painting for a long time, but never dared to do it... until now! I knew I would have to deal with it without reference. I don't feel very good without any. I am not happy with her left hand, the sky is "out of order" and I think there are perspective issues. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the overall result.

I used my imagination and mostly that of Suzanne Vega, since I wanted to illustrate one of her song titled "Solitude standing", mainly those beautiful lyrics :
"Solitude stands in the doorway
And I'm struck once again by her black silhouette
By her long cold stare and her silence
I suddenly remember each time we've met
And she turns to me with her hand extended
Her palm is split with a flower with a flame"

Oh one last thing : I think this woman might be my girlfriend... if I had one. Do you know anyone looking like this ? ;)
Edit : Too late. Now I am not single anymore, and she's truly looking quite a bit like this woman. :)

As ever, great work with watercolours, Vincedudeman!
Cool colors!

Nice cool work Vincent, but not your strongest piece imo,
but you already mentioned your feeling about this work;)

I think the composition is solid with the background nicely centering the main subject (but watch that perspective of the door, its slightly off ;) )

What i feel like is that this piece would have benefit from a much darker overall pallette, making the flames stand out more and creating a more intense atmosphere.

Still this is technically great watercolour work, I like how you handled the clothing and the wood textures are teriffically rendered

+ 9 ;)

Yep, Wallace summed it up quite nicely. I'd like to add that it's pretty difficult to work with watercolors and that you pulled it off really well
